New Year's Resolution: Project 365

Everyone has a New Year's resolution whether it's planned months before, the day of, or a last minute thing, no one seems to give up the opportunity to change something about their lives the following year and let's face it we all have at least one thing about our lives/ourselves we could improve. After seeing a variety of Photo 365 projects, I decided as my New Year's Resolution, I should do one too. It'll show me how to prioritize better and stick to something for once. It's the perfect resolution!

What I'll Be Using To Make This Happen:
  1. iPhone (I carry it everywhere so I will always be ready.)
  2. Laptop (Where else can I back my photos up?)
  3. Media Drive (Found a place to back up the back up!)
  4. My Flip Mino HD Camera (Video stills make great photos as well!)
  5. Instagram (Best way to filter my photos as I take them and share them along.)
  6. Shutterfly & Snapfish  (Can't think of a better way to organize my photos.)
  7. Facebook (Sharing my photos instantly with everyone I know!)
  8. Twitter (Tweet my best shots, 365 tweets about my photo project might have the unfollow effect on some people.)
  9. And of course on my blog, I will posting weekly photo updates; 52 in total!
The Purpose of This Project:
  • I will finally learn how to start a project and finish it too!
  • It'll be easier to blog/journal using my photos to show me what was going on that day.
  • Cherish everyday memories!
  • Use media to the best of it's ability.
  • Blog more photos.
  • Make it real, make it all my own.
  • Give everyone who follows me something interesting everyday.
  • Improve my organizational skills.
  • Give others more of a sense of who I am through pictures.
  • Show that pictures are really worth a 1,000 words
This list could go on forever, truth is there are many reasons why I am doing this, but the one main purpose is to see if I can actually do this without skipping a day! (If you haven't noticed, I seem to have a habit of loving to start new projects and then hate getting back to it later, bad habit if you ask me especially with all the projects I have started.)
Project starts January 1, 2013! Feel free to join me!

Organizing Years of Photos

For the past two months I have been wanting to post about how I organized my family's photos in these photo boxes.

4 Words...It took too long!

I organized all the photos from our drawers, ripped family albums, and I even included the photos that somehow always end up on the floor, in between closet space, and what not.

I started off by organizing thousands of photos by year. I thought this way any photo within that year would be easier to find, but because that was just too easy, I decided to organize them by month and by day. It worked out fine from the 1993 photos to the 1998 photos. Then, I realized that all the other photos were dated wrong. Someone always set the camera's date wrong. So I sorted the rest by event and year estimation. TOOK HOURS! Then after 2 weeks of giving a couple hours each day to this project, it was finally done!

This second box, the purple one with polka dots is where all the favorites (in other words, pictures others can see) ended up. Organized by each member of the family. I did the purple box as I was organizing the red box with polka dots using my "system".

After the first couple days, a huge stack of photos still haunted me until I finished organizing. 2 weeks later, I was done. Each day I would spend a couple hours working on it and even took a few days off (It became hard some days).

The finished product made me extremely happy. I was left with the purple polka-dotted box full of our favorite family photos that are approved for guests to go through and the big red polka-dotted box for us to enjoy years from now. All organized and safe from damage.

Now to avoid having to go through this in the years to come, I'm thinking family yearbooks that I want to work with my Mom to put together will showcase and replace all these photographs. Plus, our digital photos won't go to waste. Shutterfly & Snapfish are going to be a huge help on this!

Journey in Novel Writing + Giveaway Winner Announced!

Most of you that read my blog may already know that I have been writing a novel from my National Novel Writing Month badge or tweets about NaNoWriMo. I entered the novel writing month and achieved writing a novel in that month. The novel is called "Within the Bindings" and it's a very unique novel written in an unusual sequence that falls together once you finish reading. It's hard to explain the sequence, you have to read it yourself to find out. I am actually planning on finishing this novel and then entering it in a contest to possibly get it published! It's going to great! I hope you all as my readers will agree too!
So far it's been a hard working journey, writing almost every hour of everyday, it's quite hectic actually. Plus, I haven't even began editing! Oh what fun that will be! Here's the novel's summary, let me know what you think of it!
A girl named Zara is seen sitting in a parking lot in the middle of the city near where everything in her life seemed to have taken place. Throughout her life she had the urge to know everything, the urge to live every life she had seen, and to understand everything around her. Her open heart and mind allowed her to know everything about anyone's life. As soon as she formed a trusting bond with someone, all their life's experiences, all their feelings, and thoughts became something she had within her fingertips. It wasn't a talent, it wasn't a gift she was born withZara was a girl who saw the world naturally and synced her heart and mind into everything to find a natural meaning within. Zara knew everything without knowing a thing.
Sound lovely enough? Comments are welcome!
By the way, the winner of the $25 Fragrance Essence Gift Card Giveaway is Amber D. Please e-mail journeytoeternity@yahoo.com for details on how to claim your prize!
Thanks to everyone who participated! The contest had a great turn out! Don't be discouraged if you did not win. Check out FragrancEssence.com for deals that will be sure to make you feel like a winner!

Style: Beauty Box & Polyvore

Okay so I am not exactly a style blogger, but every girl has their own type of style whether they choose to share it or not-a girl's style is clearly visible. In which case, I am going to share a beauty/style post in hope that you will see some of my style and more of my personality.
This first picture is what I call my "Beauty Box!" Just some of my favorite and current beauty items.
Beauty Box!

This last picture is a design I created via Polyvore. It's supposed to be a prom outfit for the modest girl who just wants to "shine" from the crowd. This is definitely something I would wear. It's elegant and quite simple and I think that is where my style category fits in. Above all, it's an elegant outfit for anyone looking to create a statement. (The items I chose on Polyvore are quiet on the pricy side, but I'm sure similar items from your favorite stores would create a great outfit!)
Delightfully Modest Prom!

Be sure to check out my Polyvore account for more elegant outfit put togethers and some sneak peaks into my beauty box. I hope this post was interesting, please let me know what you think. I want to know if my first fashion post was a success.

A Small Thanksgiving

Every year my family invites over family friends to have a thanksgiving dinner together, but this year my family decided it would be just us having a small thanksgiving dinner. It was great! It was very peaceful, plus, the fun of the dinner was making it together and everyone helping. Here are a couple of Instagram photos from my family's thanksgiving dinner.

Chicken instead of Turkey this year, corn, rice, and macaroni salad!

Strawberry Cheesecake & Apple Pie. Can you tell this isn't homemade? ;)

How was your thanksgiving? Did you enjoy a big feast with family & friends or a small dinner with your immediate family?

Without Technology

Hurricane Sandy was a bigger storm than expected. It seemed to have left millions of people without any electricity or even water in their homes. Not to mention, the enormous amount of flooding throughout the states that were most effected. I was one of those millions of people without power for almost 3 days. It was terrifying at first because without Internet, light, and telephone, it's hard to be connected with others for news updates on whats going on and it's even harder to find something to do when you're so accustomed to technology for entertainment. While my iPhone still had battery, I took a picture of basically what I did for majority of the time. Reading "Jane Eyre" by candle light on my bedside table.

Strangely, (don't hold this against me) I liked having no connection to the outside world. I got a peace of mind, slept extremely early those nights, and did a lot of open-minded thinking. It was nice while it lasted. On the other hand, I am happy I am connected to the world again.

Lost & Broken

This morning I lost a small key chain that I received from a friend who recently traveled to Europe, I didn't think I needed it because I had many other key chains tied to my keys so I saved it. Trying to find it this morning, I realized I had no idea where I had placed it. Usually, my key chains are all saved together in one place, but this one wasn't. It's no big deal, of course not -it's just a little key chain, but for some reason it really gets to me every time I lose or break something of mine.

I searched for it all morning, going through my stuff and almost all my handbags and still I could not find it. I stopped searching after I thought how crazy it is of me to make such a big deal out of losing something so small. Then, I started thinking, am I actually this materialistic?

Thinking about the significance of losing little trinkets and stuff we usually just put aside, perhaps I'm not so crazy. This little thing reminded me of how life seems to be. One day you lose or break something that you thought you would always have, but it never comes back. I bet everyone has a little thing they lost and wished they could one day find again, but forgot about it as days went by.

I am not crazy (I'm not exactly normal, but that's another story), I came across a theory that relates to my own personality and explains how us humans can relate the little actions we take to the way we deal with the big things in life.

Liebster Award!

I was extremely excited last night when I came across a comment on my last blog post. Mostly because I don't receive comments often, but this comment was special. Scottie Key from Scottie's Paper Dolls commented to let me know she nominated me for the Liebster Award! I'm honored, thank you so much Scottie Key, this means a lot to me!

Honestly, I'm not exactly sure how this award works or who started this award, but I'm sure glad to be a part of it anyway. From Scottie's blog post about the award, I learned that Liebster is German for "Dearest" and the award is given to bloggers who don't have many followers, but deserve some recognition.

The Liebster Award Guidelines

Each Person Nominated Must:
  • Post 11 things about themselves.
  • Answer the 11 questions the nominator has set for them.
  • Create 11 more questions to ask bloggers they nominate.
  • Choose 11 bloggers to nominate with not so many followers (200 or less). These lucky bloggers must be told.
Note: Nominators cannot be nominated back.

I thought this was pretty cool, I've never heard of anything like this before. I think it's a great way to someone's day by letting them know you like their blog, share some stuff about yourself by answering questions, ask your favorite bloggers questions, and share blogs!

My Summer in Photos

Summer is coming to an end and to celebrate the transition from summer to fall, I'm sharing some of my favorite memories this summer in pictures!

All my summer visits to Starbucks!

I definitely had fun at the State Fair with my family & this funnel cake was the perfect way to end my day!

I don't usually like wearing any make up besides a little lip gloss, but since I bought this from Victoria's Secret, I can't wait for a special occasion to wear make up!
Given to me from my best friend. I love these little sea horses!

My new pair of Polka Dot wedges!

My first trip to iHop with my best friend. Chocolate Chip pancakes, just as chocolaty as it looks!

And, finally decorations from my sister's birthday party! The funny thing about it is pink isn't even her favorite color. HA HA!

This summer was not perfect, it wasn't what I'd expect it to be, but it was still great! All these photos are from my favorite memories of the summer and I'm glad I created a great blog post from them to conclude the end of the summer.

Now that I shared some of my summer with you, are there any great summer moments you'd like to share? Comment or e-mail journeytoeternity[at]yahoo[dot]com.

Documenting Life Through Media: My Disconnected Week Findings

Disconnected week is over & this post will consist of my discoveries and what documenting my life through media means to me. In order to keep track of my week, I used my own note sheet to write out some notes on what was going on during my week and also the app EveryMe to privately post statuses of how I'm feeling to myself. It was an extremely long week for me and I was glad that I finally decided to be offline for a little while.

For the first few days, I felt a lot more relaxed than usual, but overall it wasn't as different as I thought it would be. The only major change I noticed was the fact that I was much more tired earlier than normal. In the middle of the week, I loved being able to communicate directly with my family and best friend, reading a book, and trying to get my journal in order. Although, I wasn't too happy about the fact that I had a lot of e-mails to take care of and things to get done. I was trying not worry about it, but I had deadlines. (Unfortunately, some of my work is never done). The rest of the week, I slept earlier for a couple of days and spent more time with my family.

I will admit to slightly cheating for the first few days by using the internet to search or send a few messages because it was the only way to contact some people, but can you blame me? I've been using the internet almost every day since I discovered it existed. I couldn't cut off ALL internet access all at once.

I learned a lot of important things this week. I learned that sometimes spending too much time engaging in social media will overwhelm you. I learned that actually spending time with the people you love is a lot better than communicating online and that it's okay to text or instant message sometimes. Plus, the biggest lesson I learned this week is that the best thing about memories is MAKING THEM!

That brings me to explaining what documenting my life means to me. Well, I love social networks and the ability to share little glimpses of your life with your friends & family. However, through the years the purpose and concept of these social networks has been lost and now it's become more of a popularity contest by getting the most likes or retweets. That's not what social networks are for, they should be for sharing positive aspects of your life or "documenting your life through media". To me, it means to share my life's moments with those I still try to stay in touch with. I want people to have little glimpses of me and my life and I'll always continue to share that. Although, I'll try to refrain from using the internet and social media all the time.

Disconnected Week

This whole summer I've been trying so hard to avoid over-using my smart phone and avoid spending too much time on the internet. With all the current projects I'm working on, it's extremely hard to do so. I get so many notifications and e-mails about things that aren't working properly on my websites or things I need to care of. I've been torn between getting all these tasks plus the tasks I already have on my agenda done. It gets hectic and overwhelming.

When I was browsing through Pinterest, I found an info graphic about how social media and the internet effects our mental health. It explained how social media really influences our mind and how we tend to spend so much time on social networks, rather than our own lives. This post didn't frighten me or make me feel like "Oh my, social media really is getting to my brain!". It made me realize I do spend a lot of time trying to document my life on social networks and on my blogs and websites that I forget that I need to create memories in my own life in order for me to document it.

In attempt to start living my life in present time rather then on the internet. For an entire week I won't text, instant message, e-mail, update social networks, read news posts, watch videos, browse the web or post on my blogs. Plus, I already suspended my gigs on Fiverr so I won't have order deadlines I wasn't aware of to finish. For my personal e-mail I'll be setting up an automated vacation response and for those important messages that must come to me, I will be sure to allow on the safe list. I'll be shutting down all types of communication so in case of any emergency, I'll be sure to answer important calls.

All these years, I've put up so much online and it's so much work to disconnect it all so I'm making sure I schedule nesessary posts & updates on some of my online presences. This way I don't lose followers, subscribers, and traffic on my sites. I got everything covered for this event!

If you're interesting in doing this for yourself as well, I created a print-out sheet with basic tips and a place to keep track and record everything you'll experience offline. Click here to Download it & enjoy disconnected week!

New Name? New Look?

If you're an old follower of this blog, you may have noticed the renovation that's been done here. (Or you may not). I changed the name from "The Life Of A Zobot" to "Journey To Eternity". I thought that "Journey To Eternity" sounded more suitable for a blog about lifestyle combining my goals & documenting my life.

"The Life Of A Zobot" still exists, but now it's a new kind of blog. Remember that quote blog of mine that I mentioned every now and then? Well, "The Life Of A Zobot" is now the new quote blog! All my quotes are on that blog now!

So, what about this whole new look? With the new blog name, I thought a new design was necessary. Guess what's so great about the design? I designed it myself! My first complete web/blog design, from scratch!

What do you think of the new blog name and the new look? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Sincerely Caring

I learned a huge lesson about people, friends, and myself. I’ve realized there is a huge difference between sincerely caring and caring to be sincere. It’s hard to establish a fine line between the two, but through the years and through experiences I’ve come across, I see things differently. Now, I understand the kind of people I have in my life. I understand what it is I have to avoid and who it is I need to telling my life’s story to. I shouldn’t tell people about my life when they only absorb and not take interest. I don’t want to be a live sitcom when all I wanted was to be understood. I know there’s a reason for everything in life, but I also know I have a purpose. My purpose in life isn’t to please people nor to answer to anyone about what I want to do in life. I only have to answer to those who mutually love and understand me. “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”

Summer Means...

Summer gives you about 3 months to do everything you weren't able to do during your months at work or at school (that's if you get summer off) and well here's what this year's summer means to me. Summer means:

Trying to get stuff done. If you know me or have ever read my blog before you know that I've been trying to write a novel that I would publish as an eBook, since November! Plus, I've had so many other projects in between. Such as my quote blog, my online shop Fragrance Essence, and of course my technology blog It's Technologic. I've also been focusing on a few other personal projects that I want to get together before the end of this summer.

Expanding through Social Media. This is the most important to-do for this summer. (My projects must be done in order for me to proceed with this next step, without the work being done, there would be nothing to expand.) Through out the course of my projects I have been expanding as I could and trying to find ways to get the word out on my projects. I did this while working on them so people can start browsing through it. However, I haven't reached any of my goals for the amount of reach of each individual projects so, I must improve my social media skills.

Having fun with family and friends. Although, I probably won't have much fun knowing that I didn't finish my work, I want to still make time to actually go do something. I'm mostly trying to find things to do with my family & my best friend who I love so much. That's what summer is mostly about, taking off time from life to be with your loved ones.

Trying out different things. I've recently been using Polyvore & even though I'm not a fashion blogger, I actually like it. I find it cool how I put together styles that I would actually wear and get to see items I may want to buy too! (I'll be posting a few of my Polyvore outfits soon!)

Keeping up to date with my journal. BIG! BIG! BIG! To-do for this summer! I'm way behind on writing about my life!

Reading. I have two books that I must read and I'm not exactly looking forward to it. Some people may find it strange how I love to write, but am not much of a book reader.

By the way, I'm thinking of renaming this blog. I want something with the word Eternity in it. Any ideas?

My Data Recovery Nightmare

FILES! FILES! FILES! Wait for it…FILES! With our daily adventures, all your documents, your bookmarks, your precious photos, and unrecoverable videos are saved and documented on to your computer for safe keeping. Because, hey, what can possibly happen to them there? Until one day, you try to download a program you think you need desperately and find yourself with a Trojan Win32 Virus a week later.
That’s what happened to me. Usually I save all my important stuff on my computer and I occasionally back up my data to a separate hard drive. However, I haven’t backed up any data or organized any files lately so if my data was gone, all my life’s work will be too. (Really!)
The program I was trying to download was located on a blog, one that didn’t look professional at all. It just looked like a cluttered blog, no pop-ups, and nothing that was obviously suspicious. After I downloaded the program, I could not find it any where in my programs. Instead, I found it as a file located on my computer. I assumed the download was unsuccessful, deleted the file, and carried on with what I was doing. That was the first sign of the virus, a hidden program installed on my computer.
The next day, I opened  up my browser and I noticed my homepage was completely different. I changed my homepage and didn’t look much into why it was there and how it got there. (And, you’d think that I probably would). Soon after, a random “Security Program” popped up saying that there was a threatening virus on my computer that may put my data in danger of being lost. This, I found out was the Trojan Virus’s scamming program that would tell me to pay money to get the virus fixed and then state “All Clear” while its trying to take over my computer.
After that, I ran some security tests and found that I indeed had a Trojan Virus and tried my best to manually remove it through a bunch of online web sources that gave me instructions on how to do so. I backed up all the files I could and started the process. Eventually, I had help from my Dad, but I did what I could. My computer had to be clean, and then restored to factory default. Learned my lesson, back up everywhere and everything, every time you get the chance.
In conclusion, we rely on our technology too much, we need to start creating back up plans for all this stuff, because once you get a virus or cannot recover your files, it won’t be pleasant at all.

My New Project: Fragrance Essence

Majority of the people that follow this blog know that I’m always up to something and that new projects are always around the corner. Well, here’s another one! Between keeping up with all my projects, keeping up with all my blogs and websites, and not to mention keeping up with life, I try my best to be able to let everyone know what I’m up too.

It’s Called Being Selfish

“There’s a difference between sincerely caring and caring to be sincere.” I wrote this quote the other day after thinking and realizing how selfish our let’s say- natural human side can be. I know this sounds weird and maybe even a little insulting, but I feel like us as human being have a huge selfish side. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying we aren’t good people. I just think that when we naturally react, mainly we act selfish. For example, let’s say you want to complain to your friend about the horrible mix up that happened at work and the first thing they do is roll their eyes or look away. Obviously those are signs that they aren’t interested in hearing what you have to say. Then throughout the day, the same thing happens to that friend and she complains to you, you really wouldn’t want to hear it especially because they didn’t care to listen to what you had to say. Well, after lots of thought and  looking back at similar experiences, I realized we’re just all selfish in our own ways. Sometimes we don’t even realize it.
Now, what does all this have to do with the quote. Through the years, I’ve had various friends. Some friends who were a lot like me and others who were the complete opposite of me. I’ve always been the neutral one in any group I started to hang out with. My point is, I know how it feels when a friend or loved one sincerely shows you care. Compared to how it feels when your so called “friend” acts like they care to make you believe they sincerely value your friendship when they don’t. We all act selfish towards people at some point. Mostly, because every person has priorities. I just need to find mine.

It All Starts On a Blank Page…

Recently all I have bee doing is writing. Writing ideas, writing for gig orders on Fiverr, writing journal entries, and I’m also starting to keep a daily calendar on my iPhone. (Since, I have a phone with great productivity tools, I should use it to the best of it’s ability!) I’ve made some extra cash writing on Fiverr and I’m hoping the users that buy my works really do think I do a great job. I’ve written some pretty award winning lyrics and essays (If I say so myself Winking smile ). I’ve also thought of new project ideas that I started writing notes and drawing images for. After all my other uncompleted projects are done, maybe I’ll launch this one. I’ll give you all a hint, I need to learn how to code thoroughly first. For future reference, every idea is special, write it down. I definitely learned that the hard way. You will not believe the amount of ideas I’ve thought of and forgotten. Above all, all great ideas, projects, and work…start on a blank page.
blogger-image--1946406323
This is a picture of my new journal that I got for Christmas from my best friend. I haven’t wrote anything in this journal yet because I have so many others things to do. Although, I’ll get to this blank page pretty soon. (I hope).

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying their day with their loved ones. I never hated Valentine’s day. Every year, Valentine’s day sort of makes me upset and well this year, it wasn’t bad. I got to spend the day with my best friend and that’s just what any girl could ask for. No flowers, no chocolate, just a nice day they get a little appreciation for everything whether it’s from a friend, a loved one, your family, or any one in your life that means a lot to you. That’s the important thing.

The picture above is a picture of the flowers I received from my best friend! I loved them! Thank you, sweetie!

P.S. Google's doodle video for today is adorable! Check it out!

Today is my Birthday!

Every year for my birthday, it's more or less the same thing. I go out, I do something small. I come home, take pictures, have my little sister act nice to me all day because "this day only comes around once a year and tomorrow she's gonna torture me twice as more", I cry at some point, I feel undeserving at best, I wish I could have done something better, I look back at the year I've had, I think about all the mistakes I've made, but at the end of the day...I remember what's important. The people who I love the most and the people that have made me who I am today. Everyone wants their birthday to be made special. So, despite my mistakes and everything that has happened between last year and this year, I want them to know, I love you all, very very very much! ♥

Just thought, I'd get in a blog post before my birthday ends.

Earning, Coding, and Enjoying

I haven’t posted something in a while and I just thought that I should recap on what I’m doing right now and how things are. The first couple weeks of the New Year have been really weird for me. I’ll spare the details. I guess the important part is that I got through them.
Anyway, over the past few weeks I’ve been trying to earn some extra cash on this Website called Fiverr. This site is great it allows you to write, draw, craft, code, or anything you can think of for someone for $5. I’ve been writing reviews, writing lyrics, and even research papers. People will actually pay you for this. It’s unbelievably great!
I’ve also been learning how to code JavaScript from Codeacademy as part of my New Year’s resolution to learn how to code. I signed up for CodeYear in the very beginning of January and I’m doing my best to follow through with it. Although, I have been slacking off, just a tad. (I need to finish the first and second lesson in order to move on.)
Besides that, I’m just trying to enjoy life and take on the challenges and adventures I go through everyday. It hasn’t been the best of year far, but it just started. I’m sure it’ll get better along the way. “Life’s never perfect, but you can have a perfect life if you believe it is.” – Zobia; a quote written by yours truly!
By the way, if you’re interesting in purchasing a review, custom lyrics, or anything. Please feel free to check out my Fiverr page: My username is writesavvy. I will be more than happy to fulfill your requests.

I thought these little cards were wonderful! They look really cool and I was glad I was lucky enough to receive my first box for free. As soon as these cards run out, I’m definitely planning on buying my own box. Moo has really won me over with their great idea to turn your Facebook profile into a card you can hand out. Instead of having people spend hours searching you on Facebook, just hand out your Facebook card and they can instantly access your profile!
Easily get yours while they still last. Sign into Facebook > Go to your profile (Timeline) > Click About > Click Contact Info> Click on Print Cards and customize your cards then order! First box is free if you get it in time! Plus, you can order your own pack! They are definately worth it! Start making your own cards now!
